COUGAR RIDGE BONFIRE AND STAR PARTY

Tour Description

This tour takes place at the Cougar Ridge Lodge in Torrey, UT, but it is open to the public! Conditions for dark skies are excellent here while offering a convenient location, restrooms, and the chance to sit by a roaring bonfire and enjoy s’mores.

Our stargazing program begins at the Cougar Ridge Lodge about an hour after sunset. We’ll confirm the meeting time and location with you that day based on weather and clouds forecast. Feel free to arrive up to 30 minutes before our stargazing time to enjoy the bonfire, eat a s’more, and make some new friends!

Please arrive by our stargazing time, we can’t make everyone attending wait for you. Late arrivals can affect our night vision. You will not be given a refund outside of extenuating circumstances. Plan your dinner and travel arrangements accordingly.

We’ll check you in once you arrive at the bonfire location (directions to the location here will be emailed when you book your tour). We start our stargazing program around the fire, giving everyone a chance to get their hot drink and enjoy a s’more. After a short introduction and a few stories, we’ll walk about 50-100 feet to our darker stargazing setup, giving your eyes a chance to adjust to the darkness and to look through our telescope.

We’ll keep you updated on any weather or cloud forecast that may affect our stargazing program. We’ll confirm the tour prior to departure. Tours may need to be pushed back or rescheduled to another day.

We provide 100% refunds if canceled due to weather, or you can’t attend a modified stargazing time.

Good to know

A minimum of four bookings are required for the program to proceed. Should that not be met, you’ll be given the option to purchase the additional “seats” or be given a full refund.

We cap our tours at 25 people. With larger groups, we do bring additional guides and telescopes to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the night sky and enjoy our program.

There is a shared unisex bathroom at this location. We recommend using it early in the evening if possible, to allow your eyes to get to peak nightvision.

If you want to see one of the best Milky Ways in the night sky or learn how the Moon affects our program, we highly recommend checking out our stargazing guide and FAQs  and calendar to help plan your trip.
